Accessibility Tools

To help in your quest for an accessible website, we've rounded up some of the tools that we think you'll find useful.

Full Testing

Wave - Web Accessibility Evaluation tool - WAVE is a free web accessibility evaluation tool provided by WebAIM. It is used to aid humans in the web accessibility evaluation process. Rather than providing a complex technical report, WAVE shows the original web page with embedded icons and indicators that reveal the accessibility of that page.

AChecker - Web Accessibility Checker - This tool checks single HTML pages for conformance with accessibility standards to ensure the content can be accessed by everyone.

A-Prompt - Although A-Prompt is a bit old now it's still able to return a fairly accurate A-AAA rating.

Hera - HERA performs a preliminary set of tests on the page and identifies any automatically detectable errors or checkpoints met, and which checkpoints need further manual verification.

Browser Emulation

Cynthia Says - A browser emulator capable of mimicking both Cynthia and Lynx browsers.

Validators

W3C Markup Validation Service - Probably the best people to tell you if you're doing it right!

Color Testers

GrayBit - GrayBit is an online accessibility testing tool designed to visually convert a full-color web page into a grayscale rendition for the purpose of visually testing the page's perceived contrast.

Colour Contrast Analyser - Does what it says!
